On 10^th of November 2025, the Pacific Heads of Missions (PIHOMs) met with HE Anne Grete Riise (sitting center right), the Norwegian Ambassador based in Canberra. 

HE Riise is accredited to NZ and most pacific nations including Vanuatu. She is planning on making another visit to Vanuatu in the coming weeks.

The meeting took place at the Dockside, Queens wharf, Wellington. Discussions revolved around environment, Climate Change, Ocean Management and energy.

Norway is one of the world’s largest suppliers of natural gas and oil. Norway is also known for its advocacy in Ocean governance and climate justice.

Norway is funding PHD scholarships for pacific students in Ocean studies through the UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC. Norway is also funding the NO PLASTIC programs – a program that Vanuatu is an advocator and a beneficiary of.
