Vanuatu Passport Application Process

Main Image.

1.      Vanuatu Immigration Services has implemented a new passport system that requires all citizens wanting to apply for a Vanuatu Passport to follow this process.

2.     Enrolment in Person. This means that the citizen has to appear in person in front of the passport officer for the enrolment, which includes the collection of biometric data such as fingerprints, electronic signatures, and photos. With the new system, Application forms are no longer required.

3.     Documents to bring for enrolment are the Birth Certificate, ID card, and the receipt of the payment.  These are the only documents you have to bring for the enrolment in person.

4.      For citizens that are currently overseas the government will be installing enrolment centers at our embassies and high commissioner’s office in the future, but an interim measure has been put in place to issue Certificate of Identify (CI) to citizens to travel to Vanuatu for the enrolment in person through the new passport system.

5.      With the new system the passport processing is three (3) days compared to the old system which it takes over three to four months.

6.       Appointments can be made in advance with the Vanuatu Passport Office for overseas-based citizens traveling to Vanuatu to have their passports renewed.   These can be facilitated through the Consulate Office or the High Commission in Wellington.
