The new Australian High Commissioner, HE Daniel Sloper invited Pacific Heads of Mission
(HOMs) to a meeting at the Australian High Commission in Wellington to advocate Australia’s bid to host COP31.

There was a general consensus that Pacific nations should support Australia to host first ever COP in the region as Pacific is the largest ocean that is affected climate change.

Forum Leaders in 2024 agreed to support Australia's bid under Para 28 of the Communique.
